YachtCat 53’ Sport Fish

This vessel was designed by fishermen, for fishermen. The driving force behind this design was the fact that, in today’s tournament environment, a team’s ability to compete is specifically limited unless they have several issues resolved with their vessel selection.

The speed and effective range of the vessel is very quick to eliminate or enable a team in any given tournament. Most often, the teams that have the best speed and range get to the fish and come home successful. The next most important criteria is stability and ride during the tournament. Most teams in smaller vessels (under 50’-60’) take a real beating in rough seas and many in larger vessels do as well if the team is required to stay offshore overnight, in order to compete.

Finally, there is price. If you find a vessel that has the speed (35+ knots) to compete, the range (500+ miles) that it takes and a size that provides the ride that meets the needs of most teams (60’+) you are talking about $2.5 million, minimum and very typically much more.
