Uncorked — Rose Roots


For those of you who read my columns regularly, you know I feel very fortunate to have grandparents that were not born here. In my somewhat homogeneous wholesome Midwest farming community upbringing, I liked being “different.” I rarely started a day without my Grandma (Keelan) Jolly’s Irish oat cakes, I think I was in college before I realized what my Granddaddy Jolly’s beloved Scottish Haggis was actually made of and on the Travaglini side, well, pasta was hand rolled of the freshest ingredients and served as a staple, like rice, never a main course!
