The past several years known as the Great Recession have taken their toll on the multihull industry as a whole and many of the older established manufacturers have disappeared from the marketplace. There will no longer be any new Mantas or Victorys, no more Prowlers, no Island Spirits and no Admirals, just to name a few of the manufacturers who have stopped building.

The challenges facing catamaran manufacturers in particular are enormous as they operate with a huge fixed overhead, high employment costs and can only survive by selling significant quantities of boats. In many cases, this is simply no longer possible in this current economic environment. So what is a manufacturer to do?
