OneUP : The First Truly Portable And Ultra Compact Life Preserver
Introducing OneUp, the first compact, nomadic and reusable buoy that inflates
instantly on contact with water (in less than 2 seconds).
Drowning is one of the 10 leading causes of death in the world. That represents 370,000 people – about 42 people around the world are every hour! More than half of these deaths involve people under the age of 25.
OneUp is more than an object, it is a solution to SAVE LIVES!
Saùl de León Arteta, CEO & founder of OneUp is a geographer and surfer. He has spent his entire life surrounded by the sea. Concerned about the tragic situation of travellers, he decided to create an intelligent and effective rapid rescue tool.
“OneUP was born from the particularly worrying situation of migrants. A buoy for a hundred victims? It’s an inconceivable thing. I imagined OneUP as a solution to save lives in large numbers,” says de Leòn Arteta.
With packaging no bigger than a can of soda (6.8 inches), the nomadic and lightweight format (370 g) supports a weight of 150 kg (330 lbs).
OneUp is designed around a salt pod and CO2 inflation with a sensor that is used in aeronautical and naval security. Once in contact with enough water, the salt pod dissolves. Once dissolved, a spring is released to activate the opening of the CO2 bottle causing inflation. If there’s not enough water to dissolve the salt pod, then it won’t inflate.
The device is rugged . . .
