New Orders for Ocean Explorer – OE72 & OE60
Ocean Explorer are delighted to announce the sale of their OE60 hull #3 which will be built alongside the first in class, OE72 at their yard in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari, Finland. Designed by internationally acclaimed Naval Architect, Germán Frers, both boats carefully balance sailing performance with luxury life aboard requirements not seen in production and custom multihulls.
In the last few years, with a surge in the 60ft plus yacht market, and with more clients wanting semi-custom builds, with no requirement for professional crew, yards have had to become more flexible in order to remain competitive. So with two new builds in process within this size range, Ocean Explorer is clearly committed to building a personalized yacht for each client. This is even more evident during the discussions with the owner of the new OE60 hull #3, who was integral in the recent updates to the new layout and design of the boat.
This demonstrates the ultimate flexibility and sincerity in listening to the requirements of the client and implementing them, where possible, in the design and finishing touches. These new updates include a larger owner’s stateroom and a larger en-suite, not to mention the new sail plan, spars, steering system and much more.
The new owner commented that:
“As experienced catamaran sailors, we were very impressed with the boat on two test sails, especially with the smoothness of the boat’s motion in a choppy sea. Rather unique – typically Germán Frers. She is fast . . .
