With the new OC50, HH Catamarans announces their latest line of sailing catamarans, the HH Oceans Series, further expanding their catalogue of industry leading, award winning yachts.
The Ocean series takes the performance platform of their carbon fiber Supercats and brings you a safe, blue-water, luxury cruising catamaran designed for world touring and bay living.
The original carbon fiber Supercats series are built to be incredibly light, luxury “race boats in disguise,” regatta ready yet with all the comforts of home. Whilst retaining the exceptional build quality, Morrelli & Melvin signature contours and lines and luxury finish we demand of all our HH catamarans, the new Ocean series is designed with a different sailing experience in mind.
The biggest difference is in the hulls. By using e-glass we are have shifted the design focus toward comfortable and safe blue-water cruising and in the process, brought the cost down by a considerable amount. The daggerboards have been exchanged for fixed keels in the hull with an alloy mast. This will allow the boat to comfortably navigate shallow waters.
The hull design remains the same, with its generous interior spaces, ultra-durable finishing and a level of luxury found only aboard an HH Catamaran. Every line, curve and surface has been carefully considered and meticulously reworked to achieve the level of beauty and perfection that has become the hallmark of an HH.
The single helm station on the OC50 has been designed for easy single-handed sailing.
They will be built by Hudson Yacht Group, builders of HH Catamarans and Hudson Powercat, at their state-of-the-art production facility in Xiamen, China.
“As has come to be expected from Hudson Yacht Group,” says HYG’s new company President, Chris Doscher, “exceptional build quality and beautiful finish will be standard throughout. The HH Oceans Series catamarans will take you touring in style, offer luxury living and remain strong and powerful and simple to helm.”
The HH Ocean’s Series will be ultra-modern, semi-custom, e-glass cruising catamarans, built strong, elegant and safe, with sailing systems perfectly tailored for ease of use. These catamarans will be aimed at an audience familiar with the award winning, all carbon Morrelli & Melvin designed, HH Catamarans, who want a cruising focused vessel from the same industry leading designers and builders.
The first design ready to go into production will be the OC50. This catamaran features a very spacious general arrangement. The large saloon offers a generous sized galley to starboard with an L-shaped counter. There is ample seating around a large dining table and a dedicated navigation station to port with cold storage and an L-shaped sofa forward.
Standard options include a three or four cabin layout with master suite in the port hull aft.
Deck layout and sailing systems have been designed with the owner in mind. The OC50 will have a single helm station with raised bimini starboard aft, which will provide excellent visibility and allow the helmsman total sail control.
The design brief for the HH Ocean Series allows for significant cost reduction in comparison to the all-carbon HH Catamarans models. Composite sandwich construction with e-glass, rather than carbon fiber, hull and deck will be standard, with all high load areas reinforced with carbon fiber. All the parts are built in the same high quality tooling is our HH50 giving a perfect finish right out of the mold, that requires no fairing.
These yachts are built to be ocean tough, muscular yet graceful, and ready to take you cruising the Caribbean
or sailing around the globe in comfort and ease. Our carbon fiber Supercats win regattas (while keeping the Champagne on ice!), but our Ocean series is all about pure sailing joy. The focus is on taking you touring in style through exceptional design, spacious interiors and comfortable living spaces.
These are Morrelli & Melvin designed HH Catamarans, which means they remain powerful and ready when needed, to outrun the storm and take you to safe harbor.
