CAB to Auction Lucky Day Catamaran

Cat used in Cocaine Smuggle

24 February 2010: The Criminal Assets Bureau is set to auction off a catamaran used by a British criminal gang to try to smuggle €440m ($679 million USD) worth of cocaine into West Cork.

The 35-foot catamaran named “Lucky Day” will be auctioned next month, March 23.

 

The catamaran was used to bring in 1.5 tons of cocaine across the Atlantic. The discovery was made off the Irish coast by the crew of an RNU rescue draft during an emergency call out.

The auction will be held at O’Donovan’s House, Courtstown Industrial Estate, Little Island, Co. Cork.
