28th Annual Juana Good Time Regatta 2018
From the Navarre Beach water tower to the foot of the bridge, Juana’s Pagodas was painted in color as a variety of multihulls, from Hobies, Prindles, and Nacras to cruising cats and trimarans, covered the beach. It was time for the 28th Annual Juana Good Time Regatta, and once again, this year did not disappoint. In fact, it may go down as one of the best yet! 90+ multihulls registered, and after the close call with Tropical Storm Gordon, just days before the event, we breathed a sigh of relief that once again, the weather would cooperate.
Thanks to an experienced organizational committee and plenty of helpful volunteers and staff, Friday evening’s late registration and smooth sailing party went off without a hitch. Chef at Sailors’ Grill put on some savory appetizers, and the Malibu and Bud girls handed out beachy swag and tempting beverages. Participants clutched bulging goodie bags and the latest Good Time t-shirt, knowing they still had two full days of food, drink, and sailing to enjoy. Under a glorious sunset, excited racers reunited and met new friends, while live music filled the air, and the deck dancing continued until the wee hours!
As usual, Saturday and Sunday mornings started with a steady north breeze, which kept things comfortable in the big Pagoda during the morning’s crowded skipper’s meetings. Coffee and pastries wafted through the air as the sailors were welcomed and given my usual blurbs, thanking sponsors, introducing safety and committee . . .
