The story goes that Seattle grew out of a telegram in the 1800s. Sent to Arthur Denny from his brother, “There is plenty of room for one thousand settlers. Come
at once.” Although Denny wasn’t the first to arrive in the rich wild lands of the Emerald City, he did bring two dozen settlers on the schooner “Exact,” landing at Alki Point in 1851.
