From behind the desk to the wheel. A first-timer’s charter story

Ok, I am not going to assume this is the first charter story about the British Virgin Islands you’ve read. In fact, it’s probably not the first one you’ve read this month. The BVI is one of the most popular cruising grounds in the world for a reason. But, hopefully it’s a different take on chartering a boat by a regular guy setting out on a week-long adventure with friends, family or both.

Now being a former dingy, one-design and a big boat racer through the years, and an employee at Yachting magazine, I thought, “hey, its about time I took my family on a charter vacation – and I should be able to do that, no problem.” So, with great zeal I plunged into researching my trip like a man on a quest for untold treasures.
